A smoky, salty, crunchy, and creamy charcuterie board perfect for game day, featuring smoked gouda, sharp cheddar, summer sausage, and soft pretzels. Comes together in under 20 minutes and is a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces smoked Gouda
  • 6 ounces sharp white cheddar
  • 8 ounces smoked summer sausage
  • 4 ounces smoked turkey or ham
  • 46 large or 12 mini soft pretzels
  • 2 cups pretzel sticks or twists
  • 1/4 cup spicy brown mustard
  • 1 cup smoked almonds or pecans
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cup apple slices or grapes
  • 1/2 cup cornichons or pickled okra
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Warm the Pretzels: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place soft pretzels on a baking sheet and warm for 5-7 minutes. Brush with melted butter and a sprinkle of flaky salt.
  2. Cut the Cheese: Slice smoked Gouda into thin wedges or cubes. Cut sharp cheddar into thick slices or small cubes. Leave some pieces whole for texture variety.
  3. Prep the Meat: Slice summer sausage into thin rounds, then cut each round in half. Roll smoked turkey or ham into rosettes by folding each slice in half and rolling it up. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  4. Toast the Nuts (optional): Spread smoked almonds or pecans on a small baking sheet and toast at 350°F for 3-4 minutes. Sprinkle with a pinch of smoked paprika and toss to coat.
  5. Arrange the Board: Place ramekins with spicy brown mustard, honey, and cornichons/pickled okra on the board. Cluster cheese and meat around the board, not all in one pile.
  6. Add the Pretzels: Arrange warm soft pretzels in one or two spots. Tuck pretzel sticks and twists into gaps.
  7. Fill the Gaps: Add apple slices or grapes in small clusters. Scatter toasted smoked nuts in remaining empty spaces. Aim for a full, abundant look.
  8. Final Touch: Drizzle honey over smoked Gouda if desired. Sprinkle a tiny bit of smoked paprika over the whole board.
  9. Serve Immediately: Let board sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving so cheese softens slightly. Serve with extra napkins.

Notes

Prep cheese and meat the night before to save time. Serve at room temperature for best flavor. For a lighter option, use low-sodium cheese and skip added salt on pretzels. For gluten-free, use gluten-free pretzels. For dairy-free, use vegan smoked cheese alternatives.
