A quick and easy fall sangria made with dry white wine, apple cider, caramel sauce, and a splash of bourbon. It’s the perfect crowd-pleasing drink for any autumn gathering, ready in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine or Pinot Grigio
  • 2 cups (480 ml) apple cider
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) bourbon or whiskey (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 large Honeycrisp or Fuji apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 large pear, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup (about 60 g) fresh cranberries
  • Optional: 1 cinnamon stick and 2 star anise
  • Ice cubes
  • Extra caramel sauce for drizzling
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs or apple slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Warm the caramel sauce in a microwave-safe bowl for 10-15 seconds until pourable.
  2. Wash and thinly slice the apple and pear into 1/8-inch thick half-moons. Rinse cranberries. Place fruit in a large pitcher. Add cinnamon stick and star anise if using.
  3. Pour the white wine over the fruit and stir gently.
  4. Add apple cider and bourbon (if using). Stir to combine.
  5. Drizzle in the warmed caramel sauce while stirring continuously. Add lemon juice and a pinch of sea salt. Stir well. Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity as needed.
  6. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 2-4 hours, to let flavors meld.
  7. To serve, stir the sangria gently. Fill glasses with ice, pour sangria over ice, and include some soaked fruit. Drizzle extra caramel on the rim if desired. Garnish with rosemary or apple slices.

Notes

Don’t skip the pinch of salt—it enhances the caramel flavor. Use a dry white wine to balance sweetness. Slice fruit thin for better absorption. Best if chilled 2-6 hours; don’t let it sit longer than 12 hours or fruit will get mushy. Can be doubled for parties.
