A creamy, festive dip made with cream cheese, marshmallow fluff, and crushed Christmas tree cakes, served with homemade sugar cookie dippers. Perfect for holiday gatherings and cookie exchanges.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow fluff
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 3–4 drops green food coloring (gel preferred)
  • 6 Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes, finely chopped (about 1 cup crushed)
  • 2 tablespoons holiday sprinkles
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sanding sugar or festive sprinkles (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, beat softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes with a hand mixer.
  4. Add egg yolk and vanilla, beating until combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing on low until a soft dough forms.
  6. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into 3-inch long strips, about 1 inch wide.
  7. Place strips on prepared baking sheet, spacing 1 inch apart. Sprinkle with sanding sugar or festive sprinkles.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are just barely golden. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Makes about 24-30 dippers.
  9. In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and butter together until completely smooth, about 3 minutes on medium speed.
  10. Add powdered sugar and beat on low until incorporated, then increase to medium and beat for another 2 minutes until fluffy and pale.
  11. Add entire jar of marshmallow fluff and beat on medium speed until fully combined, about 2 minutes.
  12. Add vanilla extract and almond extract (if using), beat until just combined.
  13. Add 3-4 drops green food coloring and beat on low until evenly distributed.
  14. Finely chop Christmas tree cakes into 1/4-inch chunks. Reserve 2 tablespoons for garnish. Fold remaining crushed cakes into dip using a rubber spatula.
  15. Transfer dip to serving bowl. Smooth top with spatula. Sprinkle reserved crushed cakes and holiday sprinkles on top.
  16. Serve immediately with sugar cookie dippers, or refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat cream cheese. Soften cream cheese on counter for 30 minutes instead of microwaving to avoid lumps. Spray spatula with nonstick spray to easily remove marshmallow fluff from jar. If dip is too thick, add 1 tablespoon milk and beat again. If too thin, refrigerate 20 minutes. Dip can be made up to 2 days ahead; store in refrigerator and let sit at room temperature 15-20 minutes before serving. Cookie dippers can be frozen for up to 3 months.
