These adorable mummy-wrapped jalapeño poppers are a quick and easy Halloween appetizer made with cream cheese, cheddar, bacon, and crescent roll dough. They’re perfect for parties and game day gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8–10 medium fresh jalapeños
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Pretzel sticks or candy eyes (for mummy eyes, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut each jalapeño in half lengthwise. Use a small spoon to scrape out the seeds and white membranes.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, crumbled bacon (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  4. Using a small spoon, fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture. Don’t overfill—leave a little room at the top.
  5. Unroll the crescent dough on a clean cutting board. Pinch the perforated seams together to form a single sheet. Cut the dough into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide (about 20-24 strips).
  6. Take a stuffed jalapeño half and start wrapping a dough strip around it, leaving a small gap for the ‘eyes.’ Overlap the dough slightly. Place the wrapped pepper seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with all peppers.
  7. Press two small candy eyes or pretzel stick pieces into the exposed cream cheese filling (optional).
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Let the poppers cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a serving platter.

Notes

Wear gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid burning your skin or eyes. For less heat, remove seeds and membranes thoroughly or soak halved peppers in cold water for 10 minutes. If dough is too sticky, refrigerate for 5 minutes before cutting. For even baking, space poppers 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
