Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups pretzels (mix of twists and mini pretzels)
  • 1 cup candied pecans
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 cup apple slices (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, tossed in lemon juice)
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds, toasted
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1/2 cup dried apricots or figs (optional)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish
  • For Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice (optional): 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ground ginger, 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves, 1/2 teaspoon allspice

Instructions

  1. Make the pumpkin spice dip: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, pumpkin puree, powdered sugar, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes. If too thick, add a tablespoon of milk or cream; if too thin, add more powdered sugar.
  2. Chill the dip: Transfer to a serving bowl or ramekin, cover, and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to let flavors meld.
  3. Prepare the board: Place a large wooden board or serving platter on a work surface. Optionally line with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  4. Arrange larger items: Place the dip bowl slightly off-center on the board. Fan apple slices near the dip.
  5. Add pretzels: Scatter pretzels in small clusters around the board.
  6. Scatter smaller items: Sprinkle candied pecans, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, and chocolate chunks in the gaps between pretzel piles.
  7. Add finishing touches: Tuck dried apricots or figs into empty spaces. Place fresh rosemary sprigs artfully around the board.
  8. Serve immediately: Remove dip from fridge, give it a quick stir, and place on the board. Set out small plates and napkins. Best enjoyed within an hour of assembly.

Notes

The dip can be made up to 2 days ahead and stored in the fridge. Toast pumpkin seeds and make candied pecans a day ahead. Assemble the board just before serving to keep pretzels crunchy and apples fresh. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free cream cheese. For gluten-free, use gluten-free pretzels or rice crackers.
