These crispy air fryer chicken wings are ready in just 15 minutes, with no oil needed and a shatteringly crisp skin thanks to a baking powder trick. Perfect for game days or a quick, foolproof snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings (about 2024 pieces)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Cooking spray (optional, for basket)

Instructions

  1. Pat the wings completely dry with paper towels until the skin feels tacky.
  2. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (about 3-5 minutes).
  3. In a small bowl, mix baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne (if using).
  4. Place dried wings in a large bowl, sprinkle seasoning mixture over them, and toss with hands until evenly coated.
  5. Arrange wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, not touching or overlapping.
  6. Cook at 400°F for 8 minutes. Do not open the basket.
  7. Flip wings with tongs and cook for another 7 minutes (total 15 minutes).
  8. Check for doneness: wings should be golden brown and crispy; internal temperature should reach 175-180°F.
  9. Let wings rest in the basket (turned off) for 2 minutes before serving.

Notes

Pat wings very dry for best crispiness. Use baking powder, not baking soda. Do not overcrowd the basket. Let wings rest 2 minutes before saucing to keep skin crispy.
