A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip with a fun spiderweb design, perfect for Halloween parties. Ready in under 30 minutes, this crowd-pleaser combines shredded chicken, cream cheese, buffalo sauce, and cheese for an irresistible appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie chicken works great)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing (full-fat recommended)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (for spiderweb design)
  • 1 small black olive, sliced into thin rings (optional, for spider decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Soften cream cheese if needed (microwave 10-15 seconds).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, buffalo wing sauce, and ranch dressing. Mix with a hand mixer or sturdy spoon until smooth and uniform pale orange.
  3. Fold in shredded chicken, 3/4 cup cheddar cheese, and all mozzarella. Reserve remaining 1/4 cup cheddar for topping. Stir until evenly distributed.
  4. Transfer mixture to a greased 9-inch pie dish or small baking dish. Spread into an even layer with a rubber spatula.
  5. Sprinkle reserved 1/4 cup cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until hot and bubbly around the edges and cheese is melted and golden.
  7. Let dip cool for 3-5 minutes before adding spiderweb design.
  8. While dip cools, spoon sour cream into a piping bag or small zip-top bag. Snip off a tiny corner.
  9. Pipe concentric circles of sour cream starting from the center outward. Use a toothpick or knife tip to drag from center outward through circles, creating a web pattern (6-8 spokes).
  10. Place olive slices on top to form a spider shape (optional). Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

For best texture, use full-fat cream cheese and shred cheese yourself. The spiderweb design holds for 20-30 minutes; add just before serving. Make ahead: assemble dip (without spiderweb) up to 24 hours in advance, refrigerate, and add 5 minutes to baking time. Reheat leftovers in oven at 350°F for 10-12 minutes; stir in a splash of milk if needed. Not recommended for freezing.
