This Christmas Tree Cake Dip takes everything you love about Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes and turns it into a shareable, scoopable, dangerously easy dessert that comes together in five minutes flat. It’s the kind of recipe that feels too simple to be this good, but trust me, it works.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 container (8 ounces) Cool Whip, thawed
  • 1 box (10.5 ounces) Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes (about 10 individual cakes)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: Holiday sprinkles or crushed peppermint for garnish
  • For serving: Graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzels, or fresh fruit

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese: Take your cream cheese out of the fridge about 30 minutes before you start. If you forgot, you can microwave it in 10-second bursts until it’s soft but not melted. Cut it into cubes first to speed things up.
  2. Chop the Christmas tree cakes: While the cream cheese softens, take your Little Debbie cakes and chop them into small pieces about the size of a pea. If using a food processor, pulse just a few times.
  3. Beat the cream cheese: Put the softened cream cheese in your mixing bowl and beat it with an electric mixer on medium speed until it’s smooth and creamy, about 1 minute. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
  4. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla: With the mixer on low, slowly add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix until combined, then increase speed to medium and beat for another 30 seconds until smooth and fluffy.
  5. Fold in the Cool Whip: Add the thawed Cool Whip to the bowl. Use your spatula to gently fold it into the cream cheese mixture until no white streaks remain.
  6. Add the chopped cakes: Gently fold in the chopped Christmas tree cakes, reserving a handful for topping. Fold just until evenly distributed.
  7. Chill (optional but recommended): You can serve immediately, but it gets even better after an hour in the fridge. If making ahead, cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
  8. Garnish and serve: Transfer to a serving dish, sprinkle reserved cake pieces on top, add holiday sprinkles or crushed peppermint if desired, and arrange dippers around the bowl.

Notes

Don’t overmix the cream cheese or it can become thin and runny. Let Cool Whip thaw completely before using. Chop the cakes while they’re cold for cleaner pieces. This dip actually tastes better the next day as flavors meld. For a peppermint twist, add 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract and 1/4 cup crushed candy canes. For chocolate version, use chocolate frosted cakes and add 2 tablespoons cocoa powder.
