These Easy Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Sliders are made with just 4 ingredients and require minimal effort. Perfect for game days, potlucks, or feeding a crowd, the slow cooker does all the work, delivering tender, flavorful meat that shreds like butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 pounds pork shoulder (pork butt)
  • 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 12 slider buns or small hamburger buns
  • Coleslaw (optional)
  • Pickles (optional)
  • Extra BBQ sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep the pork shoulder (5 minutes): Pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels. If it has a thick layer of fat (more than 1/2 inch), trim some off, leaving a thin layer. Season generously with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder on all sides.
  2. Mix the cooking liquid (2 minutes): In a small bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Taste and adjust sweetness or tanginess as desired.
  3. Assemble in the slow cooker (3 minutes): Place the seasoned pork shoulder in the slow cooker, fat side up. Pour the sauce mixture over the top, coating the meat evenly.
  4. Cook low and slow (6-8 hours on low, or 4-5 hours on high): Cook until the meat is tender and easily shreds with a fork. For best results, cook on low for 8 hours.
  5. Shred the pork (10 minutes): Carefully transfer the cooked pork to a cutting board. Using two forks, shred the meat into bite-sized pieces. Discard any large pieces of fat or gristle.
  6. Mix with sauce (5 minutes): Skim off excess fat from the cooking liquid. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and toss with the cooking liquid. Add more BBQ sauce if desired. Let sit on warm for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Toast the buns (5 minutes): Split the slider buns and toast them lightly in a skillet with butter or under the broiler for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Assemble the sliders (5 minutes): Pile the pulled pork onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with coleslaw and pickles if using, close with the top bun. Serve immediately with extra BBQ sauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, sear the pork shoulder in a hot skillet before adding to the slow cooker. Use a meat thermometer to ensure internal temperature reaches 195-205°F. Don’t over-shred; leave some texture. Let the meat rest in the sauce for at least 15 minutes before serving. Toasted buns are essential to prevent sogginess.
