These easy witch’s finger pretzel rods are a quick and fun Halloween treat made with pretzel rods, green candy melts, and almond slices. They look spooky but are simple enough for kids to help make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 pretzel rods (thick, straight rods like Snyder’s of Hanover)
  • 12 ounces green candy melting wafers (or white wafers with green gel food coloring)
  • 24 sliced almonds (natural, unroasted preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for thinning candy)
  • Red gel icing or black icing (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Pour green melting wafers into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until smooth (about 90 seconds total). Add 1 teaspoon coconut oil if too thick.
  3. Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip into melted candy, leaving about 1 inch undipped at the top (the ‘wrist’ area). Twist gently to let excess drip off.
  4. Place dipped pretzel on prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining pretzels.
  5. While candy is still wet, press a sliced almond onto the tip of each pretzel rod, pointed end outward, like a fingernail.
  6. Use the back of a butter knife or toothpick to gently press 2-3 lines near the tip for knuckles.
  7. Let pretzels set at room temperature for 10-15 minutes, or refrigerate for 5 minutes until hard.
  8. Optional: Add a dab of red gel icing at the base of the almond for ‘blood’ or black icing for witchy nail polish.

Notes

Don’t over-dip; a thin layer is best. Work quickly before candy sets. If candy thickens, microwave for 10 seconds. For nut-free version, skip almonds or use black icing for nail polish. Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
