These adorable no-bake turkey cupcakes with chocolate frosting are the easiest Thanksgiving dessert you’ll ever make. No oven required, kid-friendly, and perfect for creating a memorable holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 store-bought chocolate cupcakes
  • 1 can (16 oz) chocolate frosting
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1 cup candy pumpkins
  • 24 candy eyes
  • 1 small piece orange fondant or orange fruit leather
  • 1 small piece red fondant or red fruit leather
  • 12 pretzel sticks (broken in half)
  • 2 tablespoons sprinkles (fall colors, optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace: Clear a large, flat surface. Line up your cupcakes, frosting, and all candy decorations within easy reach.
  2. Frost the cupcakes: Using a piping bag or zip-top bag with the corner snipped off, pipe a generous swirl of chocolate frosting onto each cupcake. Start from the outside edge and work inward, creating a spiral pattern. Smooth the top slightly with a spatula if desired.
  3. Create the feather base: Working with one frosted cupcake at a time, arrange candy corn in a fan pattern on the back half of the cupcake. Start with a bottom row of 5-6 pieces in a semi-circle, pointed ends outward. Add a second row of 4-5 pieces slightly overlapping, then a third row of 3-4 pieces. Press gently into the frosting.
  4. Add the candy pumpkins: Place 3-4 candy pumpkins in the center of the feather fan. Press gently into the frosting.
  5. Make the turkey face: On the front half of the cupcake, place two candy eyes about 1/2 inch apart. Cut a small triangle from orange fondant or fruit leather for the beak and place it below the eyes. Cut a small teardrop shape from red fondant or fruit leather for the wattle and place it below the beak.
  6. Attach the legs: Break pretzel sticks in half. Gently press two pretzel halves into the bottom front of the cupcake, angling them slightly outward to look like turkey legs.
  7. Repeat for remaining cupcakes: Continue the process for all 12 cupcakes.
  8. Chill to set: Place finished turkey cupcakes in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow frosting to firm up and candy to adhere. If making ahead, cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  9. Serving: Remove from refrigerator about 15 minutes before serving to allow cupcakes to come to room temperature slightly.

Notes

For best results, use sturdy store-bought cupcakes. Don’t overcrowd the feathers—about 12-15 pieces of candy corn per cupcake is ideal. Work in batches of 3-4 cupcakes to prevent frosting from drying out. If candy isn’t sticking well, chill frosted cupcakes for 10 minutes before decorating. Keep decorations dry to prevent stickiness. For transport, place each cupcake in a muffin liner or cupcake carrier.
