Fun, fast, and kid-friendly mummy hot dogs wrapped in crescent dough with melted cheese and mustard faces. Ready in under 30 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-size hot dogs
  • 2 cans (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 slices American cheese (or 4 slices cut in half)
  • Yellow mustard (for faces)
  • Optional: cooking spray or melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat each hot dog dry with a paper towel. Cut each cheese slice into thin strips (about 1/2 inch wide) or cut each slice in half.
  3. Place a cheese strip or half-slice on each hot dog, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Open one can of crescent rolls and unroll the dough. Separate along perforations to create 8 triangles. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut each triangle lengthwise into 4-5 thin strips.
  5. Take 3-4 strips of dough and wrap around each hot dog, starting at one end and working to the other. Leave a small gap near the top for the face. Press ends gently to seal.
  6. Arrange wrapped hot dogs on prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  7. Optional: Brush a thin layer of melted butter over each mummy.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until dough is golden brown and puffed, and hot dogs are heated through.
  9. Let cool for 2-3 minutes. Using a squeeze bottle or toothpick, add two tiny dots of mustard for eyes.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

Keep dough cold for easier handling. Don’t over-wrap—3-4 strips per mummy is plenty. Leave a gap at the top for steam to escape and for the face. Pat hot dogs dry to help cheese and dough stick. For best results, serve immediately while dough is flaky and cheese is melty. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes or in an air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes.
