Buttery, flaky crescent dough wrapped around cocktail sausages to look like mummies, served with a tangy honey mustard dip. Ready in under 20 minutes, this fun and easy recipe is perfect for Halloween parties, weeknight dinners, or game day spreads.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12–16 oz cocktail sausages (e.g., Lit’l Smokies)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper (a pinch each)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Unroll crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. Pinch the perforated seams together to form a large rectangle.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough lengthwise into strips about ½ inch (1.25 cm) wide (6-8 strips per can).
  4. Wrap each cocktail sausage with a strip of dough at a slight angle, leaving a small gap near the top for the ‘face’. Tuck the end of the strip underneath the sausage.
  5. Place wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash.
  7. Brush the tops of the mummies lightly with egg wash. Sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is puffed and deep golden brown.
  9. While baking, make the dip: In a small bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, honey, mayonnaise, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Adjust to taste.
  10. Let mummies rest on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes before serving. Serve warm with the mustard dip.

Notes

For a spicier dip, add a dash of cayenne pepper or hot sauce. To make ahead, wrap sausages up to 2 hours ahead and refrigerate; brush with egg wash just before baking. For freezing, freeze unbaked mummies on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 2 months; bake from frozen, adding 3-5 minutes.
