A quick and easy Halloween charcuterie board arranged in a spider web design, perfect for last-minute parties. Made with simple ingredients like cheddar, pepperoni, crackers, and olives, it comes together in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 round wooden board or large plate (12–16 inches wide)
  • 8–10 ounces cheddar cheese, block form, cut into thin slices or small cubes
  • 8–10 ounces pepperoni or salami, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mixed olives (green and black), pitted
  • 1 large black olive or grape (for spider body)
  • 8–10 pretzel sticks (for spider legs)
  • 1 box round crackers (about 40–50 crackers)
  • 1/2 cup grapes or cherry tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup almonds or pecans (optional)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your board (2 minutes): Start with a clean, dry round board or platter. If using a wooden board, wipe it down with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Place it on your counter where you have good lighting and enough space to work.
  2. Create the outer cracker ring (3 minutes): Arrange crackers in a large circle about 2 inches from the edge of the board. Place them close together, slightly overlapping, to create a solid ring. This forms the outer edge of your spider web. Use about 20-25 crackers for this ring. Press down gently so they stay in place.
  3. Add the inner cracker rings (3 minutes): Create two smaller concentric circles of crackers inside the outer ring. The middle ring should be about 4 inches from the outer ring, and the innermost ring should be about 2 inches from the center. Space these rings evenly so the web looks balanced. Use about 10-12 crackers for the middle ring and 6-8 for the inner ring.
  4. Place the cheese (3 minutes): Cut your cheddar block into thin slices (about 1/4 inch thick) and then into small triangles or rectangles. Arrange these pieces between the cracker rings, following the circular pattern. Place them at regular intervals so each section of the web has cheese. Use about 6-8 pieces per ring section.
  5. Add the pepperoni or salami (2 minutes): Fold each slice of pepperoni in half, then in half again to create small quarters. Place these between the cheese pieces, following the same circular pattern. The folds create texture and make it easy to grab. Use about 4-5 folded pieces per ring section.
  6. Create the web strands (3 minutes): Using pretzel sticks, create straight lines from the center of the board outward to the edge, like spokes on a wheel. Space them evenly — about 8-10 pretzel sticks total. These form the structural lines of your spider web. Press the ends gently into the cheese or crackers to hold them in place.
  7. Fill in with olives and grapes (2 minutes): Scatter olives and grapes around the board, placing them between the web strands. Don’t overcrowd — leave some space so the web pattern is visible. Use about 3-4 olives or grapes per section.
  8. Create the spider (2 minutes): Place one large black olive or grape in the very center of the board. This is the spider’s body. Take 8 pretzel sticks and break them in half. Arrange 4 halves on each side of the olive, angled slightly outward like spider legs. Press the ends gently into the board or surrounding crackers to keep them in place.
  9. Add finishing touches (1 minute): Sprinkle any nuts or almonds around the board for extra texture. If using rosemary sprigs, tuck them between the web strands for a spooky, woodsy effect. Step back and check the balance — adjust any sections that look sparse. Add a few extra crackers or cheese pieces where needed.
  10. Serve immediately or refrigerate (1 minute): This board is best served at room temperature. If making ahead, cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours. Remove from fridge 15 minutes before serving to let the cheese soften slightly. The spider legs (pretzel sticks) may soften if left too long, so add them just before serving if making ahead.

Notes

Add the pretzel spider legs right before serving to keep them crunchy. The board stays fresh for about 2 hours at room temperature. For best results, use crackers all the same size and shape. If making ahead, prep ingredients in advance and assemble no more than 30 minutes before serving.
