Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 pound asparagus, woody ends trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for asparagus)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (for asparagus)
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for asparagus)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil. If using foil, lightly spray with cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, 2 tablespoons olive oil, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside about 2 tablespoons of the glaze for brushing halfway through baking.
  3. On the prepared sheet pan, toss asparagus with 1 tablespoon olive oil, ¼ teaspoon salt, and garlic powder (if using). Spread in a single layer on one half of the pan.
  4. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place skin-side down on the other half of the sheet pan. Season tops with salt and pepper. Brush generously with the honey garlic glaze, reserving the 2 tablespoons for later.
  5. Bake for 8 minutes. Remove pan from oven and brush salmon with reserved glaze. Return to oven and bake for another 6 to 8 minutes, or until salmon flakes easily with a fork and asparagus is tender-crisp (total 14-16 minutes for 1-inch thick fillets).
  6. Remove from oven and let rest for 2 minutes. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and fresh herbs. Serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

Pat salmon dry for best glaze adhesion. For thicker asparagus, roast 3 minutes before adding salmon. Use an instant-read thermometer for perfect doneness (125°F to 130°F). Line pan with foil for easy cleanup. Watch closely if using broiler—honey burns fast.
