These adorable mummy dogs are made with hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll strips, baked until golden, and finished with mustard eyes. A quick, fun, and delicious Halloween party snack that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 cocktail sausages or mini hot dogs
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • 1 egg, beaten (optional, for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for topping)
  • Ketchup or hot sauce (optional, for dipping)
  • Shredded cheese (optional, for a gooey surprise)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Open the can of crescent roll dough carefully. Unroll and separate along perforations into 8 triangles. If using a solid sheet, cut into 8 equal rectangles.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide.
  4. Take one cocktail sausage or mini hot dog and place it at the wide end of one strip of dough. Wrap the strip around the hot dog, slightly overlapping, leaving a small gap near the top for the face. Use 2-3 strips per hot dog. Press ends to seal.
  5. Place wrapped mummy dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between each.
  6. If using egg wash, beat one egg with a tablespoon of water and lightly brush the tops of the dough strips.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until dough is puffed and golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes. While still warm, add two small dots of yellow mustard for eyes using a squeeze bottle or toothpick.
  9. Serve immediately. Transfer to a platter and enjoy warm.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Don’t over-wrap the hot dogs; 3 strips per mummy is ideal. For best texture, serve warm. Can be assembled up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerated, or frozen unbaked for up to 3 months.
